A Business Profile owner can invite another person to help manage a location. Each person uses their own Google Account, so a handoff does not require sharing the business owner’s password. Confirm the location and role before sending an invitation.
01Identify the profile and the task
Record the business name, actual location, profile link and the work the person is expected to perform. A brand with several locations can have similar names, so do not rely on a screenshot of a business name alone. Confirm that the person requesting the change is authorized to manage this specific profile.
- Check the full location
- Confirm the intended recipient
- Describe the work before choosing a role
02Choose owner or manager deliberately
Google distinguishes owners, who can manage users and remove profiles, from managers, who cannot perform those two actions. Both can handle many everyday profile tasks. Match the role to the actual responsibility and keep primary ownership with the appropriate business representative. An operational handoff is different from transferring ownership of a business profile.
- Use the least authority needed for the task
- Keep an ownership record
- Do not treat manager access as primary ownership
03Send the invitation from profile settings
Using the account with the required owner access, open the intended Business Profile and its People and access settings. Add the recipient’s individual Google Account address, choose the agreed role and send the invitation. Follow the current labels shown in Google’s official help if your interface differs; do not create another profile to work around a missing control.
- Recheck the address before inviting
- Verify the selected role
- Keep the original profile intact
04Verify acceptance from both sides
A pending invitation is not the same as usable access. Ask the recipient to accept with the intended account, then confirm their role in People and access. Have them open the exact profile and check the operation they need without making an unrelated live edit merely as a test.
- Distinguish invited from accepted
- Check the account in use
- Record the accepted role and date
05Hand over a defined work package
Share the approved factual information, change list and review process separately from the invitation. Access alone does not explain which hours, images or business details should change. Define who approves public edits and how the team will record them, particularly when several people can update the same profile.
- Use an agreed factual source
- Name the approver
- Keep requested edits separate from access status
06Review access when responsibility changes
When an engagement or staff role changes, have the authorized owner review remaining users and remove access that is no longer needed. Preserve the business’s ability to manage the profile before ending a handoff. Completion should state the actual role and verified access, not claim that visibility improved because another user was added.
- Review pending invitations
- Retain appropriate business ownership
- Record the handoff outcome
