Change a Google business address. Keep the business record tied to the real location.
For a business you manage, an address correction or move should begin with its existing Business Profile and accurate real-world information. This guide covers the review and handoff around an address change. It does not establish eligibility for a location or promise when Google will publish the edit.
01
Confirm what is changing
Distinguish a typo, a map-pin correction and a move to another physical location. Record the old value, intended value and the person responsible for confirming the business facts. A move should not be used to invent an office in a city the business does not actually occupy or serve under the relevant rules.
Identify the exact existing profile
Keep the change reason
Confirm the real-world location
02
Review whether the address should be public
Google’s business representation guidelines distinguish storefront and service-area arrangements and reject a mailing-only virtual office as a qualifying location. Check the rules for the actual business before publishing an address. If customers are not served there, review the applicable service-area and address-display guidance rather than copying a competitor’s setup.
Use the current official eligibility guidance
Check customer-facing operations
Avoid unsupported location claims
03
Make the edit with an authorized account
Open the profile using an account that can edit it and use Edit profile to update the address information. Check the complete address and map pin against the actual place customers need to find. Keep related details, such as customer-facing hours and the website destination, accurate without changing unrelated business facts.
Review unit and building details
Inspect the pin location
Save the intended value before submitting
04
Keep verification separate from submission
Google says a verified business moving to a new address must verify again. Follow the verification options offered for the specific profile; do not assume a method or timetable from another business. Record whether the address edit is submitted, under review, requiring verification or publicly updated so a team does not report the first step as completion.
Track the actual status shown
Assign the business representative
Do not promise an approval date
05
Coordinate the public handoff
Once the business facts are confirmed, review the website contact page and other controlled references that need the new address. Keep a change list and assign each destination to an owner. A profile edit does not automatically correct every third-party reference, and a screenshot from a management screen does not establish what the public sees.
Review directions and contact details
Record other controlled listings
Avoid creating unnecessary duplicate profiles
06
Verify the public result
Check the public listing and directions after the platform processes the change, then compare them with the intended address and pin. Record unresolved differences and the appropriate support path. Keep address accuracy, profile verification and search performance as separate outcomes; a correct move does not establish a ranking improvement.
